SMC x Blackleaf Capital
Overview:
Blackleaf Capital is Canada's premier Black-owned student-run long-only equities investment fund and the leading nationwide student-run organization focused on educating Black students about the finance industry through professional development opportunities and practical experience in long-only equities investment. Despite being recently founded, the organization has quickly established itself as a pioneer in the finance industry, aiming to bridge the racial gap by cultivating a pipeline of talented Black professionals.
Problem:
Due to its recent establishment, Blackleaf Capital lacked an online presence, making it challenging for potential sponsors and students to learn about the organization and its activities. Without a website, the organization could not showcase its portfolio and investment strategy, hindering its ability to attract new members and sponsors.
Solution:
The project entailed developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) website for Blackleaf Capital, serving as an online platform to showcase its portfolio, investment strategy, and provide information about the organization and its members. The MVP website included essential features like a home page, portfolio page, about us page, contact us page, and a blog section. By employing a modern and professional design, the MVP website aimed to appeal to potential sponsors and members. Moreover, the website was optimized for search engines to enhance visibility and attract organic traffic.
The MVP website was developed by consultants Ariz Babul, Elizabeth He, Charmi Sanghvi, and Salonee Singh, who closely collaborated with Blackleaf Capital to ensure that the website fulfilled their needs and requirements. Managing Director Rishi Goel and Project Director Jordan Kim led the project. The new MVP website will grant Blackleaf Capital a robust online presence, enabling them to showcase its portfolio and investment strategy, ultimately attracting new members and sponsors.
